Before you hire

Hiring a home or carpet cleaner

Agree on rooms, surfaces and a task list. Clarify the difference between routine cleaning, a deep clean and a specialist service.

Prepare a clear description

  1. List the rooms and tasks, with approximate floor area and the current condition.
  2. Identify surfaces or fabrics that need special care and share their care labels if available.
  3. Explain pets, fragrance preferences and any products you do not want used.
  4. Arrange entry and secure personal documents, valuables and items that must not be moved.

Questions to ask

  • Which tasks are included, and which are add-ons?
  • Do you bring equipment and supplies, and can you accommodate my product preferences?
  • Is the price for the agreed job or for a set amount of time?
  • For carpets or upholstery, what method is proposed and how long should drying take?
  • How do you handle damage concerns, missed tasks or a change in scope?

What can affect the price?

These factors help explain an estimate. Ask businesses to quote the same scope; LA Services does not provide a local price estimate.

  • Room count, floor area and the condition of the space.
  • Routine cleaning compared with deep cleaning or move-out work.
  • Special surfaces, stains, upholstery and equipment needs.
  • Parking, stairs, furniture moving and repeat-visit arrangements.
