Prepare a clear description
- Describe the affected room, outlet, light or equipment and whether the issue is continuous or intermittent.
- List any planned new appliances or fixtures and provide their model information.
- Explain access arrangements and any times when power interruption would be difficult.
- Photograph only safely accessible equipment. Do not open electrical panels or touch exposed wiring to prepare a request.
Questions to ask
- Does your license and experience cover this work?
- What does the diagnostic visit include, and how is it charged?
- Will this job need a permit or inspection, and who will arrange it?
- Does the quote include fixtures, wall repairs and cleanup?
- How long might power be interrupted, and how will additional work be approved?
What can affect the price?
These factors help explain an estimate. Ask businesses to quote the same scope; LA Services does not provide a local price estimate.
- Diagnosis compared with replacement of a clearly specified fixture.
- Access to wiring and existing equipment.
- Equipment capacity, material choices and the extent of the approved work.
- Permits, inspections and restoration of affected finishes.
